In Estonia, children go to school at the age of 7. School is compulsory. In the kindergarten, the child’s readiness for school is assessed and a school readiness card is filled in.

School extension. In certain cases, if the teachers and the parent consider that the child is not yet ready for entering school, it is possible to apply for a deferral of schooling, i.e. an extension of school.
