Attendance at kindergarten is not compulsory, but the vast majority of 81% of children aged 1.5 to 3 years and almost 94% of children aged 4 to 7 attend kindergarten before school (as of 2021).

Parents are responsible for the provision of pre-primary education, kindergartens support and supplement family education (§ 24 of the Education Act)
